Being a compulsive vinyl collector, the WAV files on the album download page are not the point. A vinyl LP is the point, and here it is. I have wrecklessly pressed up 250 copies which I intend to give away to anyone brave and/or resourceful enough to discover Black and Red through the labyrinth of online music. Just cover the postage (50p is the minimum pricing Bandcamp will allow me to put in here) and it is yours.

about

The lyric was inspired from a news story of the time about a fatal accident on what I think was the Indiana Jones ride at a theme park, the bit from Temple of Doom in the rubber dingy. Succumbing to the frothing torrents being something of a relief from life. A riff around changing the bass notes on a C# power chord builds the attack and with a solo I wanted to have a bit of a feel of A Day in the Life, taking a long time to ascend the scale and then chopping and changing to get to the finish. The break I put in partly to demonstrate that I was getting better at the drums, which are all done freehand in real time on a Yamaha DJX keyboard I misguidedly spent far too much money on and ended up only using for the drum sound - set to Jazz Kit usually, recorded across two or three tracks.

Black and Red Nottingham, UK

Exciting alternative guitar heavy songs with no ego. Creating home-made music for years, on the outside, looking in with a cynical eye. Black and Red is a true one-man band. ... more
